Thank You!
I made a journal earlier this morning that indicated that I was 400 pageviews away from 100,000.  Oddly, I have received almost 12,000 pageviews after posting that journal.  Is there some crazy coincidence?  I'm just wondering how I am receiving such a large amount of pageviews in one day, which I have never accumulated this many in one day, let alone a span of days.

Thoughts?  Know something I don't?  Is there a glitch?

A Big Thank You

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 3, 2009, 5:31 AM
A big Thanks goes out to everyone who commented and favorited ORNG2 Carbon.  I haven't had much time to thank everyone personally yet, so I thought I would start out this way to show that I am truly grateful for everyone's support of my Winamp work.  I'll try my best to get to everyone very soon!

Happy Holidays! :santa:

Hey folks, I'm a big fan of Daft Punk.  I would like to explore the genre further and would love some suggestions for other artists that can drop a beat like Daft Punk.  It's so hard to find good underground artists, so if anyone knows of any, shoot their names my way!

Thanks!

Hey gang!

I am in desperate need of employment.  I thought I was employable, but as of late I am having a hard time finding anything that will sustain me financially.

If someone has any advice, or knows of a job that I would be good at, PLEASE let me know.

The United States apparently ran out of cool jobs, so now I'm on the hunt for something that may be out there for me to pursue.

SK051 for Winamp Classic

SK051 by mattnagy

I am proud to announce that SK051 is complete and ready for download.  SK051 or Skin Fifty-one, commemorates 50 original skin themes by me and 60 releases to deviantART.  This skin features all of the good qualities from earlier releases and is clutter-free in regards to previous themes that were seen as "too busy" for adequate use.

I hope all of you who still utilize Winamp enjoy this new release.

:D

The internet is an interesting beast

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 13, 2009, 7:49 AM
Its incredibly awesome/scary the way something as simple as a winamp skin can change hands so many times and be exposed to such an extensive audience.

I found this when I entered "wobachi" into google.  Theres quite a few places to find wobachi related materials, I am sure; from design blogs to the art sites we all belong to, art finds its way to many end-users through different outlets.  Interest in these kind of releases sparks a large chain reaction that is nothing the internet can't handle.

Winamp skin designed in the states --> Windows Icons made by jg-visuals --> SonyEricsson theme found on a Russian website.

What do you think of this?  I'm personally at a crossroads.  On one side, I find the added exposure of my work to be a positive thing toward building a name for my winamp skinning craft.  On the other it worries me that nothing is protected/sacred on the web.  Luckily my work usually gets credited.  But there is always the concern that other people are passing my/your work off as their own.  [For instance, some prick used Urban Development as the focal point of their website and made no effort to credit me whatsoever.  So I don't take this issue lightly when it presents itself.]

Weird, wild stuff.

Hey, so I finally settled with an icon. Hopefully I can keep it longer than 2 days this time.

A whopping 91% [32/35] of the total participants polled voted that everything in my gallery should remain intact.  I trust the opinion of the participants and have decided to leave my deviations alone.  What I have done is moved some low-performing pieces to my Scrapbook to relieve some clutter.

In addition, I have edited a selection of my Winamp skins and adopted a similar layout to instill a cohesive gallery across all releases.  The following screenshots are the skins I edited this afternoon:

blueslaad on deviantART

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 4, 2009, 9:47 PM
Okay, so I've decided to promote my Winamp classic skins on deviantART.  Since deviantART released the Portfolio feature for Beta Testers, I have been focusing on displaying a well-balanced representation of my portfolio of work.  My success on deviantART has come almost completely from my Winamp skin releases, which I feel I should reflect primarily here.

As a result, I have decided to remove the rest of my work from public view.  Any thoughts on this move?  Does anyone think this is a negative approach to promoting my work?  Does the dA portfolio feature have enough strength to carry my brand over the web, or is it vital for me to feature all media on this website as well?

Please share your thoughts with me!

Reached 80,000 pageviews today.  Pretty excited about it.

That is all.

Housekeeping over at deviantART

Hey Friends!

If you notice most of my deviations are gone.  Not to worry, I'm not leaving.  I'm merely sorting through the 100+ deviations I have submitted in order to display only the best work I have submitted.  It may take a while, I'm not sure how I want to represent myself.  This may mean that I will no longer display most of my Winamp skins, though I have yet to decide on that.

Any thoughts?

Collegiate 3 + Request for career advice

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 11, 2009, 9:03 PM
Got some good poll results, gonna go for it.  (I voted no =P)

I have a fairly good idea in my mind that might look pretty sweet if it turns out how my brain perceives it.

Recently I have been considering my options for my future.  I have been looking into Portfolio Schools (Miami Ad, Creative Circus) and have also reconsidered acquiring my MBA in hopes of readying myself for a career in Advertising.

I was wondering if anyone had some good advice for education options (which track is ideal, if any), how I should tackle the failing job market, etc.  I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the design/advertising industry, so I've hit a brick wall when it comes to nailing a job.  A part of me thinks I should ignore the job market right now and get some additional beneficial education and assume more debt.  In a perfect world, the job market would have remedied itself by the time I finish my graduate studies and I would be more employable after completing my graduate degree.

Oh yeah, anyone else experiencing nontraditional weather for the season they are currently in?  The Northeast has been unseasonably cold and rainy for what normally is classified as the summer months.

The Collegiate 3?

I made The Collegiate and Collegiate All Star following milestones during my undergraduate tenure.

Should there be a third and final Collegiate release for completing my Bachelors Degree?
